Pick how hard and how long, then start. Each difficulty sets the starting cash, the number of AI rivals and the economy you arrive in: Easy and Normal are open from the start, and Hard and Expert unlock as you finish runs. A run lasts one, five or ten simulated years.
Starting a new run keeps your finished runs and prestige. If a run is already saved, the page asks before replacing it.
